Project Status — Claude Code MCP server: features and setup
Inspect project readiness, dependencies, and supporting evidence through MCP. Use it to review a repository without starting work or running checks.
claude mcp add project-status -- npx -y @openly-useful/project-status-mcpWhat Project Status does
Project Status gives an agent read-only access to project readiness, dependency details, and task evidence. It can also expose a bounded view of local activity. The server reads existing information; it does not launch work or verification.
Connect it through MCP in Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf (Devin Desktop), Cline, Zed, or Gemini CLI. For Claude Code, run claude mcp add project-status -- npx -y @openly-useful/project-status-mcp. Activity depends on host events, so without those events the activity state remains unknown.
What it helps with
- review project readiness against available evidence
- inspect a repository’s dependencies
- find evidence recorded for completed tasks
- check local activity without starting new work
Example prompts for the agent
- Review this project's readiness using the available evidence.
- Show me the repository dependencies and task evidence.
- Check which local activity details are available.
