PreReason — Claude Code MCP server: features, setup
PreReason gives AI agents market context across rates, bonds, FX, commodities, companies and Bitcoin. Use it when answers need dated figures and sources.
claude mcp add --transport http mcp https://api.prereason.com/api/mcpWhat PreReason does
PreReason connects an agent to financial briefings through MCP. A get_context call returns prepared market context, including trend direction, changes across several periods, historical positioning, dates and sources. Coverage includes macro data, bonds, currencies, commodities, Bitcoin, Ethereum and listed companies.
The server can provide material on Fed decisions, Treasury yields, inflation expectations, commodity inventories and other metrics. It describes what the data shows rather than recommending trades. The local bridge requires Node.js 18+, while briefings require a PreReason account or an API key.
What it helps with
- retrieve context on rates and bonds
- compare a metric with its own history
- inspect a currency or commodity trend
- prepare a brief on a listed company
- trace a market figure to its date and source
Example prompts for the agent
- List the available PreReason briefings and choose one for Treasury yields.
- Call
get_contextfor rates, currencies and Bitcoin, then explain the direction of change. - Prepare a dated company briefing and include the sources for its figures.
