posecode-mcp — Claude Code MCP server: features and setup
Give an agent tools to create and validate .posecode movement descriptions, inspect issues, and share results. Useful for projects that work with programmable 3D motion.
claude mcp add --env POSECODE_BASE_URL=<POSECODE_BASE_URL> --transport stdio posecode-mcp -- npx -y posecode-mcpWhat posecode-mcp does
posecode-mcp gives an agent tools for generating, checking, critiquing, and sharing movement descriptions. A .posecode file represents motion as text, with explicit joints, actions, angles, timed phases, and constraints. The result can be rendered in 3D and opened through a playground link.
The format keeps movement instructions readable and editable rather than hiding them in a trajectory. Parser warnings and fidelity checks help locate issues. Parsing and rendering do not require an AI model, though configured range-of-motion limits affect which angles are allowed.
To add the server to Claude Code, run claude mcp add posecode-mcp -- npx -y posecode-mcp. An alternative command sets POSECODE_BASE_URL; it requires a value for <POSECODE_BASE_URL>.
What it helps with
- write a movement description in
.posecode - validate a movement and inspect parser warnings
- find fidelity issues in a movement
- edit a joint action or a motion phase
- prepare a movement for 3D rendering and sharing
Example prompts for the agent
- Create a
.posecodesquat with separate lowering and rising phases. - Check this
.posecodefile and explain any parser warnings. - Change the knee flexion in the second phase and prepare the motion for rendering.

Questions about posecode-mcp
How do I install posecode-mcp in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add posecode-mcp -- npx -y posecode-mcp. To configure the Posecode address, use the separate command variant with POSECODE_BASE_URL=<POSECODE_BASE_URL>.
What does posecode-mcp do?
It gives an agent tools to create, validate, critique, and share movement descriptions written in .posecode.
Does parsing or rendering .posecode require an AI model?
No. Parsing, validation, and rendering can run without an AI model. The MCP server exposes tools for agents to work with the format.
