Money Lover — Claude Code MCP server: finance data

This MCP server lets an AI client inspect Money Lover wallets, categories and transactions. Write actions require a separate opt-in.

What Money Lover does

The server connects to an AI client over stdio and can return wallet balances, income and expense categories, transactions within a date range, and spending totals by category. Wallets and categories are selected by name. If a name matches more than one entry, the server reports the choices instead of picking one.

Creating, editing, or removing transactions requires MONEYLOVER_ALLOW_WRITE=true; otherwise those requests are rejected before any network call. Write actions also support dry_run. The connection relies on undocumented Money Lover web endpoints, which could change, and using them may conflict with the service terms. Keep that risk in mind before connecting a finance account. Moving a transaction between wallets is unsupported, and transfers or loans are refused.

What it helps with

  • check balances across Money Lover wallets
  • inspect income and expense categories
  • retrieve transactions for a date range
  • total spending by category and currency
  • add or edit a transaction with write access enabled

Example prompts for the agent

  • Show my Money Lover wallets and their balances.
  • Summarize spending by category for the selected dates.
  • Find transactions in a wallet and change the note on one entry.
