JSON2Video — Claude Code MCP server: video and setup
Connect an agent to JSON2Video to render videos from movie JSON or templates and receive a video URL. Useful when you want to prepare video projects through an AI coding client.
claude mcp add mcp -e JSON2VIDEO_API_KEY=<JSON2VIDEO_API_KEY> -- npx -y @json2video/cliWhat JSON2Video does
The server lets an agent inspect movie JSON before rendering, browse account templates, fill template variables, and submit a render. It can also save reusable templates, manage media files, and retrieve account credit details. Rendered videos come back as URLs.
It runs locally through npx -y @json2video/cli and sends requests to the JSON2Video API. You need Node.js 20 or later and a JSON2VIDEO_API_KEY; renders spend credits from your account, so projects cannot be submitted without a key. In Claude Code, the setup command registers the server over stdio.
What it helps with
- render a video from movie JSON and retrieve its URL
- fill a template with project-specific variables
- validate movie JSON before rendering
- upload media to the account library
- check remaining account credits
Example prompts for the agent
- Create a video from this brief and return the finished video's URL.
- Show my templates and render the selected one with these variables.
- Validate this movie JSON and check the account's remaining credits.
