Metaplex Agent Registry — Claude Code MCP server: install

This MCP server creates an EIP-8004 identity for an agent in the Solana-based Metaplex Agent Registry. Use it to deploy an agent and inspect its registration.

What Metaplex Agent Registry does

The server mints a Metaplex Core asset and registers the agent identity in the Metaplex Agent Registry. Supply a name, description, image, and model URL; tools can also read registered agents, build a registration document, and list recent registrations. Sign with an agent key or an external Solana wallet such as Phantom, Solflare, Backpack, or Ledger.

mint_onchain_agent returns a preview first and broadcasts only after confirmation. For an external wallet, prepare_agent_mint builds the transaction for signing, then send_signed_transaction submits it. SOLANA_SECRET_KEY is optional for read tools and the Phantom or Solflare wallet flow.

Mainnet deployments carry a 0.02 SOL fee that funds $THREE buybacks; holding enough tokens lowers or waives it. Devnet charges no deployment fee. That makes devnet suitable for rehearsing the flow, while mainnet calls for budgeting the fee and network costs.

What it helps with

  • mint an agent and register its Solana identity
  • inspect a registered agent and its built-in wallet
  • build an EIP-8004 registration document offline
  • check a wallet’s deployment fee tier

Example prompts for the agent

  • Deploy agent Astra on devnet with a description, image, and model URL.
  • Prepare an agent mint for Phantom and show me the transaction before signing.
  • Look up the registered agent using its asset address.

Questions about Metaplex Agent Registry

How do I install Metaplex Agent Registry in Claude Code?

Run claude mcp add metaplex-agent -e SOLANA_SECRET_KEY=<SOLANA_SECRET_KEY> -- npx -y @three-ws/metaplex-agent-mcp. The key can be omitted for read tools and the external-wallet flow.

What does Metaplex Agent Registry do?

It mints a Metaplex Core asset and registers the agent’s EIP-8004 identity on Solana. It can also inspect registrations and report deployment fees.

Can I rehearse a deployment without paying the deployment fee?

Yes. Devnet deployments have no deployment fee, so you can run through the flow there before using mainnet.
