Mervext — Claude Code MCP server: documents to JSON
Turns invoices, receipts and contracts into structured JSON with a confidence score per field. Useful when an agent has to read a PDF or a photo of a document.
claude mcp add --transport http mervext https://mcp.vstudiodigital.com/mcpWhat Mervext does
Mervext is a thin wrapper around a deployed engine at https://api.vstudiodigital.com. The server keeps no state and stores no secrets. It ships five tools: extract_document reads one document (PDF, photo or text) into JSON with per-field confidence, classify_document names the document type without pulling fields, list_schemas lists the built-in schemas, check_balance reports plan and remaining credits, and delete_document removes a document by id.
The API key travels with each request from the client, so the worker never holds it. Over HTTP that means an X-API-Key: fw_… or Authorization: Bearer fw_… header; over stdio it is the MERVEKT_API_KEY variable. Keys with free trial credits come from https://mervext.com, or you can mint a device key with POST /v1/keys/device. No key, no output.
It runs on Cloudflare Workers at https://mcp.vstudiodigital.com/mcp over Streamable HTTP. For a local build, run npm install then npm run build, and start either node dist/stdio.js or node dist/http.js on port 8787. Point MERVEKT_API_URL elsewhere to override the engine base URL. MIT licensed.
What it helps with
- pull invoice fields out of a PDF
- read a scanned receipt that has no text layer
- identify a document type before extracting anything
- check remaining credits and the current plan
- delete a document by id with zero retention
Example prompts for the agent
- Extract
invoice.pdfusing the invoice schema and show per-field confidence - Classify the document in
scan.jpg, don't extract fields yet - List the built-in schemas and my remaining credits
