mdshare — Claude Code MCP server: share markdown files
Uploads a markdown file and hands back links with different permission levels. No account needed.
claude mcp add mdshare -- npx -y mdshare-mcpWhat mdshare does
The MCP server takes a file straight from disk and posts it to mdshare.live, returning an admin URL. From there you can mint separate links for Admin, Edit, Comment and View access, and revoke any of them on the spot. File contents never travel through the conversation, which keeps large notes quick to send.
Setup is one command. The server runs through npx -y mdshare-mcp, so Node.js and npm have to be on your PATH — otherwise the command fails outright.
Uploading and link issuing are the whole job here. Editing, inline comments and live collaboration happen in the mdshare.live web editor, not inside your agent. Claude users can also install a plugin wrapper that ships one skill, triggered by requests to share markdown.
What it helps with
- upload a markdown file and get a link for a teammate
- hand over a document as read-only without granting edit rights
- revoke a link once the file should stop circulating
- send project notes into a chat without pasting the text
Example prompts for the agent
- Upload
my-notes.mdto mdshare and give me the link - Share
docs/spec.mdand make the link view-only - Push
README.mdto mdshare and return the admin URL
