mcp-power-automate — Claude Code MCP server: what it does and setup
An MCP server that lets an agent read, validate, edit and revert Power Automate cloud flows, using the Chromium session you are already signed into.
claude mcp add mcp-power-automate -- npx -y @kaael1/mcp-power-automateWhat mcp-power-automate does
The server sits on top of a browser session that is already logged in to Power Automate. A packaged extension lifts the flow context and the matching tokens; the MCP then hands the agent commands for reading a flow, previewing a change, validating it, saving, checking the diff and reverting. No Entra ID app registration or admin consent is involved.
Setup of the extension is manual: turn on Developer Mode at chrome://extensions, pick Load unpacked, and select the directory printed by npx -y @kaael1/mcp-power-automate extension-path. Nothing gets captured until that is done. The local bridge claims 127.0.0.1:17373 and keeps all state in the process that owns it, so a second MCP instance will not share the port; stop the running bridge or set a different POWER_AUTOMATE_BRIDGE_PORT.
Your browser stays the authority. Let a token lapse and you have to refocus the Power Automate, Power Apps or Dataverse tab before retrying. Writes are narrow on purpose: the MCP will not delete solutions or components, touch managed solutions, or write environment variables. A rejected save surfaces as CONNECTION_AUTHORIZATION_FAILED when a connection lacks permission, or as SCHEMA_VALIDATION_FAILED naming the offending member, which lets the agent correct the candidate instead of guessing.
What it helps with
- pin the agent to one flow so edits cannot land elsewhere
- preview the smallest change and validate it before saving
- roll back a saved flow that came out wrong
- trace which action failed in the latest run
- attach an existing cloud flow to an unmanaged Dataverse solution
Example prompts for the agent
- Lock onto the invoice approval flow and list its actions before any edit.
- Preview a change to
retryPolicy, validate it, then save and show me the diff. - Invoke the manual trigger, wait for the run, and tell me which action failed.

Questions about mcp-power-automate
How do I install mcp-power-automate in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add mcp-power-automate -- npx -y @kaael1/mcp-power-automate. After that, load the extension once in Chromium with Load unpacked, pointing at the folder printed by npx -y @kaael1/mcp-power-automate extension-path.
What does mcp-power-automate do?
It lets an MCP client read a Power Automate cloud flow, preview and validate a change, save it, inspect the resulting diff and revert. Run inspection, trigger tests and unmanaged Dataverse solutions are covered too.
Do I need an Entra ID app registration?
No. Tokens are captured from the browser session you are signed into, so there is no admin consent step. That session remains the live authority, and a lapsed token means reopening the Power Automate or Dataverse tab.
