mcp-microsoft-todo — Claude Code MCP server: setup and tools
Connects Microsoft To Do to AI coding tools through Microsoft Graph. It lets your assistant check daily agendas, update checklists, and organize task lists.
claude mcp add --env MS_CLIENT_ID=<MS_CLIENT_ID> --env MS_TENANT=<MS_TENANT> --transport stdio mcp-microsoft-todo -- npx -y @mag-cie/mcp-microsoft-todoWhat mcp-microsoft-todo does
The server communicates over standard I/O to link coding agents with Microsoft Graph. Authentication relies on MSAL device code flow. Running the authorization generates a short code and an official Microsoft login URL. Once approved in a browser, credentials stay cached in ~/.mcp-microsoft-todo/token-cache.json for subsequent calls.
The tool exposes distinct functions for task operations. You can pull today's summary, search entries by keyword, move tasks between lists, and set up recurrence. It also supports batch completion, category tagging, and exporting task data into iCalendar .ics files.
Node.js 20 or higher is required. For personal accounts on outlook.com or hotmail.com, you must pass MS_TENANT=consumers or authentication will fail.
What it helps with
- review overdue tasks and today's schedule from Microsoft To Do
- create recurring tasks with nested checklist items
- complete multiple tasks simultaneously in a batch
- export work tasks into iCalendar format
Example prompts for the agent
- Show me my overdue tasks in Microsoft To Do
- Create a daily recurring task named 'Review PRs' in my Work list
- Find all tasks containing 'invoice' and mark them as done
