mcp-apple-notes — Claude Code MCP server for Apple Notes
Connect an MCP client to Apple Notes to manage notes and folders through an agent. Use it to search notes or update their contents from your coding assistant.
claude mcp add mcp-apple-notes -- uvx mcp-apple-notesWhat mcp-apple-notes does
The server exposes MCP tools for creating, reading, editing, deleting, moving, and searching notes. Folder tools cover creation, lookup, renaming, deletion, and moving. You can also inspect the folder and note hierarchy.
AppleScript handles communication with Apple Notes. Note content can use HTML, including headings, lists, tables, and links; nested folder paths support up to five levels. The server requires macOS, Python 3.10+, and the Apple Notes app. It needs permission to access Notes and run AppleScript, so check those macOS permissions before connecting it.
What it helps with
- create a note with HTML content
- find notes by keyword
- move a note to another folder
- rename or relocate a folder
- inspect the note and folder hierarchy
Example prompts for the agent
- Create an Apple Notes entry with a heading and a shopping list.
- Find notes containing “project” and show their folders.
- Move the note with ID
...into the “Archive” folder.
