Kova — Claude Code MCP server: one investment strategy for agents

Keeps a declared investment strategy and lets an agent check a portfolio against it. Useful when you want every review to run on the same rules.

What Kova does

Kova acts as the strategy layer for agentic investors. You work out goals, constraints and investing principles in conversation, see the whole thing before anything is written, and approve it. Then you connect a portfolio and ask an agent to compare it with that same strategy; what comes back is a brief covering alignment, tensions and open questions.

The plugin bundles Kova's strategy workflows and a secure MCP connection for clients supporting Agent Plugins v1. Nothing runs locally and no key goes into a config file — the client talks to https://kovatools.com/mcp and signs in through Kova's OAuth flow with PKCE. MCP access requires an active Kova subscription. Revoking a connection means deleting its API token in your account; uninstalling the plugin leaves an issued token alive.

Approval comes first: Kova asks before saving a strategy, recording assets or liabilities, or producing a brief. It does not place trades, forecast markets or pick securities. The Kova app in ChatGPT is a separate channel — installing one does not bring the other.

What it helps with

  • pin down investing principles an agent will not quietly rewrite
  • check a live portfolio against a strategy declared earlier
  • get a brief listing where holdings drift from the strategy
  • connect a portfolio to an agent without a local server or stored keys
  • approve data writes before they happen, not after

Example prompts for the agent

  • Build my investment strategy from these goals and constraints, and show the full preview before saving
  • Check my portfolio against the saved strategy and list the tensions
  • Create a strategic brief for the portfolio: where it aligns and where it diverges

How do I install Kova in Claude Code?

Add the marketplace with claude plugin marketplace add kovatools/kova-agent-plugin, then install the plugin with claude plugin install kova@kova. Run /mcp once afterwards to sign in to Kova.

What does Kova do?

It turns your goals, constraints and principles into a durable investment strategy, then lets an agent review a portfolio against it. Saving a strategy or creating a brief happens only after you approve.

Do I need an API key or a local server?

No. The plugin connects to https://kovatools.com/mcp and authenticates through Kova's OAuth flow with PKCE, so no credentials ship in the package. An active Kova subscription is required for MCP access.
