JidoSeal — Claude Code MCP server: check a folder's OKF tier
A local MCP server reads the YAML frontmatter of every *.md in a folder, names the knowledge base tier, and lists the fields each file still needs.
claude mcp add jidoseal-mcp -- uvx jidoseal-mcpWhat JidoSeal does
Point it at a folder of markdown notes and it walks every *.md file. Only populated frontmatter fields count — a title: with nothing after it earns nothing. The result tells you which tier (Bronze, Silver, Gold) the corpus reaches and what each file is missing for the next one. A corpus takes the tier of its weakest file, so a single note without frontmatter drags the whole folder down.
The scan is deterministic: no model calls, no opinion-based scoring. Gaps come back marked AUTO (a value JidoSeal can propose) or NEEDS-CLIENT (only you can answer). Two more tools, jidoseal_trust and jidoseal_changes, are read-only; the second shells out to the local git program with transports disabled to read folder history. The server writes exactly two files under <folder>/.jidoseal/: manifest.json and progress.ndjson. Your notes stay untouched.
The scan engine is a separate jidoseal package under a proprietary licence, pinned here to one version. "Nothing leaves your machine" is JidoSeal's own claim about that engine, not an independent audit — the README's network section and the tests in tests/ are how you check it. A folder holding a symlink to a directory or to a file outside itself gets refused. The paid jidoseal_start_checkout runs only with confirm: true and sends eight fields to jidoseal.com, among them the Merkle root and a 0–100 score.
What it helps with
- find which frontmatter fields each file needs for Silver
- work out the tier of a whole notes corpus
- spot markdown files with no YAML frontmatter
- read a folder's history through the local
git - check a folder before paying for a certificate
Example prompts for the agent
- Scan ~/notes with JidoSeal and tell me what's missing for Silver.
- List the files that have no frontmatter.

Questions about JidoSeal
How do I install JidoSeal in Claude Code?
Run pip install jidoseal-mcp, then claude mcp add jidoseal -- uvx jidoseal-mcp. The registration is tied to the folder you run it in.
What does JidoSeal do?
It reads the YAML frontmatter of every *.md under a folder, reports the tier the knowledge base reaches, and lists per file the fields missing for the next tier.
Does JidoSeal send my notes over the network?
By JidoSeal's own claim the scan transmits nothing: no files, no file names, no contents. It has not been independently audited; the README's network section and the tests in tests/ are how you verify it.
