InfraNode — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Connects AI assistants to open data across 84 German cities without API keys, offering transit, weather, power prices, and environmental metrics.
claude mcp add --transport http infranode https://mcp.infranode.dev/mcpWhat InfraNode does
InfraNode aggregates public records from German official bodies, including DWD and Mobilithek. It normalizes fragmented structures into standardized responses with snake_case keys and ISO 8601 timestamps. The integration provides 12 read-only tools. Starting with get_city_overview gives agents a live summary alongside all supported data categories for a selected municipality.
An internal Redis cache preserves stale records when upstream providers experience downtime. Calls do not fail during external outages because the server reports the issue under source_status. Location handling is forgiving: queries using Munich or münchen resolve directly to muenchen without manual slug mapping.
What it helps with
- fetch official German weather warnings and temperatures from DWD
- monitor real-time public transit departures and delays
- locate electric vehicle charging stations and parking areas
- check official air quality measurements
Example prompts for the agent
- Call get_city_overview for koeln to inspect transit delays and weather.
- Check live train departures and schedule disruptions in Berlin.
- Find active electric vehicle charging locations in Munich.

Questions about InfraNode
How to install InfraNode in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add --transport http infranode https://mcp.infranode.dev/mcp in your terminal. No account registration or token is required.
What does InfraNode do?
It exposes standardized municipal infrastructure records for over 84 German cities through an HTTP MCP endpoint. It covers public transport, weather, energy, and environmental metrics.
How does InfraNode handle upstream outages?
Calls do not break when an agency service goes down. InfraNode returns cached data from Redis and notes the issue inside the source_status field.
