EcuDataMCP — Claude Code MCP server: Ecuador open government data
Connects Claude and other AI agents to official Ecuador government data: CKAN, SRI, BCE, INEC, Supercias, SERCOP. No API key required.
claude mcp add ecudatamcp -- uvx ecuador-mcpWhat EcuDataMCP does
The server provides access to a dozen government sources through a single protocol: open data catalogs, company registries, statistics, public procurement, seismic events, and geographic directories. The agent can search datasets by topic, preview CSV and Excel files in memory, query DataStore without downloading, and check government service requirements.
Sources work without registration or tokens. The server parses CSV, JSON, GeoJSON, and compressed archives on the fly. Supports stdio and HTTP transport, includes Docker image and health checks.
The author warns that tool descriptions are partly AI-generated, may not cover all endpoint parameters, and can return incomplete results if the upstream API changes. Cross-check against the original portal before making important decisions.
What it helps with
- fetch SRI tax statistics dataset without manual portal download
- check requirements and cost for an Ecuador government service
- preview CSV or Excel from CKAN catalog without opening a browser
- collect SERCOP procurement data for analysis
- pull information from multiple ministries in one query
Example prompts for the agent
- Show me INEC health datasets
- What does it cost to get a passport in Ecuador and what documents do I need?
- Preview air transport data from the Cuenca catalog
