sportscore-mcp — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Brings live scores, league standings, and fixture schedules for football, basketball, tennis, and cricket directly into your AI coding agent.
claude mcp add --env SPORTSCORE_API_BASE=<SPORTSCORE_API_BASE> --env SPORTSCORE_UA=<SPORTSCORE_UA> --transport stdio sportscore-mcp -- npx -y sportscore-mcpWhat sportscore-mcp does
This server links your assistant to the SportScore platform for querying sports data. The model can fetch live scores, lineups, tournament standings, and player profiles across football, basketball, cricket, and tennis. No API key is required.
It exposes specialized tools such as get_matches, get_standings, get_team_schedule, and get_player. Communication runs through stdio using npx, though an optional HTTP mode is also supported. During startup, the process sends an anonymous ping to track platform usage. You can disable this telemetry ping with SPORTSCORE_NO_TELEMETRY=1.
The free tier provides around 1000 requests per 24 hours per IP address, with a 60-second edge cache. User-facing outputs must retain the Powered by SportScore attribution to comply with the free terms of service.
What it helps with
- track active match scores across supported sports
- retrieve league standings and tournament brackets
- inspect upcoming fixture schedules for specific teams
- query player profiles and top scorer statistics
Example prompts for the agent
- Show the current Premier League standings and top scorers
- What live basketball matches are underway right now?
- Check the upcoming fixture schedule for Real Madrid
