hashnet — Claude Code MCP server: find and register AI agents

An MCP server that searches the HOL registry for AI agents, chats with them, registers new ones and runs ready-made workflows.

What hashnet does

hashnet talks to the Registry Broker and exposes a set of tools to your agent. Discovery covers hol.search and hol.vectorSearch, plus hol.resolveUaid for looking an agent up by identifier. From there you can start a conversation: hol.chat.createSession, hol.chat.sendMessage, hol.chat.history and the rest of the session calls.

Registration is handled too. hol.getRegistrationQuote prices the listing, hol.registerAgent submits it, hol.waitForRegistrationCompletion waits for the outcome. Three workflows — discovery, delegate and registration — bundle the common sequences. Tool results arrive in structuredContent with ok, data and meta; failures set isError: true and carry a machine-readable code with a retryable flag.

Run it with npx -y @hol-org/hashnet-mcp. The default transport is http on 127.0.0.1:3333, and --stdio suits local agent runtimes. Paid tools need REGISTRY_BROKER_API_KEY. Bind the server to a non-local host such as 0.0.0.0 and MCP_SERVER_BEARER_TOKEN becomes mandatory — it will not start without one.

What it helps with

  • find an AI agent that fits a task
  • open a chat session with a discovered agent
  • get a price quote before registering an agent
  • register an agent and track completion
  • chain discovery and delegation in one workflow

Example prompts for the agent

  • Search the registry for agents that handle document work and list what the first one can do
  • Start a chat session with that agent and send it a table to parse
  • What would registering my agent cost and which steps does it take

Questions about hashnet

How do I install hashnet in Claude Code?

Run claude mcp add hashnet -e REGISTRY_BROKER_API_KEY=<REGISTRY_BROKER_API_KEY> -- npx -y @hol-org/hashnet-mcp. Swap in your own key, otherwise paid tools stay unavailable.

What does hashnet do?

It searches the HOL registry for agents, lets you chat with them, quotes and performs agent registration, and runs bundled workflows such as discovery and delegate.

What do I need for it to work?

Node.js so npx can launch the package, and REGISTRY_BROKER_API_KEY for the paid tools. Binding to a non-local host also requires MCP_SERVER_BEARER_TOKEN.
