What Food Near Me does

Food Near Me exposes restaurant data to agents over HTTP via https://foodnear.me/mcp. It packs 8 tools, 4 resources, and 3 workflow prompts. The engine handles coordinate-based radius queries, dietary filtering, and route discovery.

Data follows a strict three-tier classification: verified, indexed, and raw discovered locations. An agent must see menu_available set to true before triggering get_menu. The environment variable FNM_MCP_ENABLED_TOOLS lets you expose a specific slice of tools to manage context size.

During the public beta, no API key is required. Rate limits apply to incoming calls. Errors return structured metadata with retry flags, so the host model knows when to back off.

What it helps with

  • locate allergy-safe food near specific coordinates
  • compare dining options by dietary menu items
  • find restaurants along a travel itinerary
  • validate structured data against Menu Protocol v1.0

Example prompts for the agent

  • Find vegan Thai spots near Brooklyn Bridge and show me the menu for the top result.
  • Compare two restaurants for gluten-free meal options.
  • Run validate_menu_protocol on our restaurant payload.
