FixYourDocs — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Submits structured bug and clarity reports on broken docs straight to repository owners.
claude mcp add --env FIXYOURDOCS_HUB_URL=<FIXYOURDOCS_HUB_URL> --transport stdio mcp-server -- npx -y @fixyourdocs/mcp-serverWhat FixYourDocs does
The package exposes a single MCP tool named file_doc_feedback. When an AI assistant spots an outdated API guide, a dead link, or confusing instructions, it drafts a structured report following Docs Feedback Protocol v0. The payload reaches hub.fixyourdocs.io, which then files an issue on the doc owner's GitHub repository if they enabled the service.
Inputs include the problematic page URL, agent metadata, an issue category, and a summary under 280 characters. You can also append an optional suggestion. The local server checks constraints like string lengths before making external network calls.
This API is strictly write-only. It returns a confirmation ULID, meaning agents cannot query previously filed items back through the protocol.
What it helps with
- report broken documentation links directly from the coding terminal
- notify library maintainers about outdated code examples automatically
- submit structured documentation fixes without opening GitHub in a browser
Example prompts for the agent
- Use file_doc_feedback to report that the guide on docsfeedback.org is missing parameters
- File a feedback report with kind outdated for the selected documentation link
- Send a suggested fix via file_doc_feedback regarding the unclear setup step
