financekit-mcp: stock quotes and technical analysis for AI agents
An MCP server that hands your agent stock quotes, crypto prices, technical indicators and portfolio breakdowns. Runs in Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and other clients.
claude mcp add financekit-mcp -- uvx financekit-mcpWhat financekit-mcp does
financekit-mcp feeds market data to an agent: equities, crypto, indicators, asset comparison and portfolio analysis. Stocks and crypto need no API key — quotes come from Yahoo Finance, crypto from CoinGecko, and the indicators are computed locally with the ta library.
There are 12 tools. For stocks: stock_quote, company_info, multi_quote (up to 10 tickers in one call). For crypto: crypto_price, crypto_trending, crypto_search, crypto_top_coins. Technical analysis: technical_analysis (RSI, MACD, Bollinger Bands, SMA/EMA, ADX, Stochastic, ATR, OBV plus pattern detection such as Golden Cross and Death Cross) and price_history with historical OHLCV. Market overview: market_overview (S&P 500, NASDAQ, Dow, VIX). Portfolio and comparison: compare_assets and portfolio_analysis.
Two ways to run it. MCPize hosting skips the terminal and config files, with a free tier of 100 calls a month and paid plans from $9/mo. Self-hosting goes through uvx or pip, and then updates and uptime are yours to manage. Python 3.11+ is required.
What it helps with
- Pull a stock quote with volume and market cap
- Compute RSI, MACD and Bollinger Bands for a ticker
- Compare returns and volatility across several assets
- Break a portfolio down by sector and concentration
- Check a cryptocurrency's price and momentum
Example prompts for the agent
- Compare AAPL, MSFT and GOOGL over the last 6 months
- Analyze my portfolio: AAPL:50, NVDA:20, MSFT:30, AMZN:10
