ezpzfile — Claude Code MCP server: local file tools for agents
An MCP server that reads, converts and edits documents, PDFs and images on your own machine. Nothing gets uploaded.
claude mcp add ezpzfile -- npx -y ezpzfile-mcpWhat ezpzfile does
Six tools cover the whole job. doc_read pulls text and tables out of DOCX, PDF, HWP, HWPX, EML, JTD and XDW. doc_convert turns documents into PDF, brings PDF back to Word, Excel or HWP, exports PDF pages as images and sheets as CSV or JSON. Then there is pdf_edit for merging, splitting, rotating, compressing, protecting and replacing text, plus pdf_info, image_edit and qr_make.
Processing stays local. The one exception is background removal: the first cut-out fetches a 4.4MB model and a 14MB runtime, which are then cached in ~/.cache/ezpzfile-mcp. Node 22.13 or newer is required. Because sharp and @napi-rs/canvas are native, they compile for your platform during install — an unusual Node build will break here.
The point is context economy. In a 2026-09-12 benchmark the same four-file task cost $0.13 against $0.28 and finished in 0:39 against 9:06, with 4 of 4 tasks done versus 2 of 4. The session without tools burned its clock hunting for libraries to handle the Korean documents.
What it helps with
- pull text and tables out of a DOCX or PDF
- turn a PDF back into Word, Excel or HWP
- merge and compress several PDFs into one
- shrink an image and cut out its background
- generate a QR code as PNG or SVG
Example prompts for the agent
- Read the tables from
report.docxand return them as JSON - Compress
scan.pdfand strip EXIF fromphoto.heic - Make a QR code for
