Claude Code–Claude Code Council — Claude Code & Claude Code MCP server
Runs Claude through Claude CLI and Claude through Claude CLI on the same question, then keeps them talking until both settle on one reply. Handy when you want a second opinion.
claude mcp add codex-claude-council -- npx -y codex-claude-councilWhat Codex–Claude Council does
Both CLIs run locally: Claude CLI signed in with Claude, Claude CLI signed in with your Claude plan. No API keys involved. Each side works in plan mode — it can open project files, search them and issue read-only commands like git log and git diff. Neither one is allowed to modify your project.
The two exchange replies until they reach a shared answer. Before that answer is final, it gets checked: text over the word limit or carrying an unsupported claim is sent back. You pick the sessions — fresh ones, your existing Claude and Claude sessions with everything they already know, or the very session you are asking from. Your skills, plugins, MCP servers and CLAUDE.md / AGENTS.md files apply to both members.
Setup goes through npx -y codex-claude-council install, and it expects Node.js 20 or newer plus both CLIs already present. Restart Claude and Claude afterwards, or the plugin will not load.
What it helps with
- get a second opinion on a database choice
- pressure-test an architecture decision before writing code
- reconcile two answers that disagree
- pull an open session with its context into the discussion
- catch an unsupported claim in the final text
Example prompts for the agent
- Discuss with my Claude session 019a… whether we should move to PostgreSQL
- Run a council on UUIDv7 versus integer primary keys
