ElevenLabs Agents — Claude Code MCP server: how to install
Connects your coding assistant to ElevenLabs Conversational AI to manage voice agents, launch calls, and update knowledge bases. Useful when building telephony workflows.
claude mcp add --env ELEVENLABS_API_KEY=<ELEVENLABS_API_KEY> --env MCP_WORKSPACE_PATH=<MCP_WORKSPACE_PATH> --transport stdio elevenlabs-agents -- npx -y @mindstone/mcp-server-elevenlabs-agentsWhat ElevenLabs Agents does
This server exposes 31 tools that interface with the ElevenLabs ConvAI API. It handles creating and updating voice agents, along with testing their responses via simulation before deployment. You can also attach webhook tools to an agent workspace.
Telephony features cover phone number management and call dispatching. You can import external numbers, trigger outbound calls, or monitor scheduled batch jobs. The server also uploads documents from local files or URLs into the knowledge base. Fetched document content is capped at roughly 50KB.
Running this package requires Node.js 20+. You also need an ELEVENLABS_API_KEY with Conversational AI access. Without this specific permission, API requests fail immediately. The server encloses all caller transcripts in <untrusted-content> envelopes to prevent prompt injection.
What it helps with
- build and simulate conversational voice agents
- import telephone numbers from Twilio or SIP trunks
- dispatch outbound calls and scheduled batch campaigns
- retrieve conversation transcripts and recorded call audio
- upload documents or URLs into the RAG knowledge base
Example prompts for the agent
- List all available voice agents in the ElevenLabs workspace
- Run a simulated conversation for agent
support-botwith the prompt 'How do I cancel my subscription?' - Add
pricing.mdto the knowledge base and verify its RAG index status
