Edgegap — Claude Code MCP server: setup and features
Edgegap lets an agent prepare a game server container, deploy a dedicated server near players, and inspect logs when a deployment fails.
claude mcp add mcp -e EDGEGAP_API_TOKEN=<EDGEGAP_API_TOKEN> -- npx -y @edgegap/mcpWhat Edgegap does
The MCP server connects an agent to Edgegap. It can write or check a Dockerfile, upload an image to a private registry, create an application version, deploy a dedicated server, and return its connection address. For a host-client game, it can create a relay session instead.
It can also produce a matchmaker configuration for you to upload through the dashboard, check deployment status, and read container logs. The API token applies across the organization rather than to a single application, so giving it to an unattended agent grants access beyond one game project.
What it helps with
- prepare a
Dockerfilefor a game server build - push a container image and deploy a dedicated server
- retrieve the deployed server's connection address
- generate a matchmaker configuration for dashboard upload
- inspect container logs after a failed deployment
Example prompts for the agent
- Prepare a
Dockerfilefor my game server build and check it against Edgegap requirements. - Deploy a dedicated Edgegap server from this image and return its connection address.
- Check the deployment status and inspect the container logs.

Questions about Edgegap
How do I install Edgegap in Claude Code?
Add the local MCP server with claude mcp add --env EDGEGAP_API_TOKEN=<EDGEGAP_API_TOKEN> --transport stdio edgegap -- npx -y @edgegap/mcp. Replace the placeholder with your API token.
What does Edgegap do?
It connects an agent to Edgegap for preparing a game server container and deploying a dedicated server. It can also generate a matchmaker configuration and retrieve container logs.
Can the API token be restricted to one application?
No. The token is organization-wide, so it cannot be limited to an individual application.
