Baton · dudko-dev — Claude Code MCP server: API editing and setup
Connects an AI agent to a Baton workspace so it can edit API requests, collections, environments, and scripts alongside the app.
claude mcp add baton -- npx -y @dudko.dev/baton-mcpWhat Baton does
Baton keeps API requests, collections, and environments as YAML files in a Git repository. Its local MCP server lets an agent inspect and change those files: create requests and folders, rename or remove requests, and edit pre-request or test scripts. Updates appear in the app, while commits stay under your control.
Request execution is disabled by default. Add --allow-run to permit running requests or collections. The server handles secret names and references rather than plaintext values. It requires Node.js 24+, and the workspace needs a baton.yaml file when the server starts; otherwise the MCP connection closes.
What it helps with
- inspect an API workspace’s collection tree and requests
- create or update a request as YAML
- rename or move a request without changing its ID
- edit an environment while keeping secrets as references
- read or change request and test scripts
Example prompts for the agent
- List the collections and requests in my current Baton workspace.
- Create an API request and save it to the Baton workspace.
- Update this request’s test script without executing the request.
