Dockhold — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Deploys local folders or GitHub repositories to live HTTPS URLs directly from your editor. It reads logs, handles redeploys, and adjusts app resources.
claude mcp add --env DOCKHOLD_REF=<DOCKHOLD_REF> --transport stdio dockhold -- npx -y dockholdWhat Dockhold does
The server links your development environment to the Dockhold platform using a local process (npx -y dockhold mcp) or a remote endpoint at https://api.dockhold.eu/mcp. It requires Node.js 18 or later. Authentication skips storing secrets in editor configs: running npx dockhold login opens a browser tab, and the resulting session stays valid for 90 days across all local tools.
Available tools let your assistant trigger GitHub builds via deploy_app, execute zero-downtime restarts using redeploy_app, view live logs, and update plain environment variables. It also covers compute resizing and managed database disk expansion. When an editor times out on initial download, installing the package globally with npm i -g dockhold bypasses the delay.
Browser-based logins cannot manage confidential application secrets because they lack the secrets permission scope. Editing secrets directly through the assistant requires the remote HTTP endpoint paired with a dedicated personal token from the Dockhold dashboard.
What it helps with
- publish a local directory to a public HTTPS URL
- inspect live runtime logs directly from the chat prompt
- adjust RAM and storage allocations for apps or databases
- restart running services with zero downtime
Example prompts for the agent
- Put this project online and give me the URL
- Show the latest runtime logs for this app
- Increase the allocated memory for the database
