DataClawe — Database as a Utility — MCP server for Claude Code
An MCP server that gives an agent access to MySQL and PostgreSQL through JSON commands in DCL. Handy when you need to read and write data without writing SQL.
claude mcp add --transport sse dataclawe-database-as-a-utility https://mcp.dataclawe.com/sseWhat DataClawe — Database as a Utility does
DataClawe — Database as a Utility runs on the open DCL (DataClawe Command Language) standard: database commands are plain JSON, and the server turns them into native SQL. Your existing database and application stay untouched. The actions are the familiar ones — SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE — plus COUNT, EXISTS, SCHEMA, TABLES, STATS, TIMELINE and table operations such as TABLE_CREATE and TABLE_COPY.
WHERE conditions are strings written the way MySQL engineers write them: status = 'active', age >= 20, name LIKE 'kimura%', status IN (...), BETWEEN, NULL checks. Several conditions are ANDed by default; OR has its own form. Aggregation with SUM, AVG and COUNT works too, with grouping by a column.
The schema lives inside the table as one status=8 declaration row. The first INSERT into a table that does not exist creates it, and new columns get appended to the schema with the type text. Point the server at a legacy MySQL or PostgreSQL database and the real column types land in that same row. Deletes are logical: the record is flagged, not erased.
The server is reached at https://mcp.dataclawe.com/sse, so there is no package to install locally.
What it helps with
- pull active users over 20 without writing SQL
- insert a row into a table from the agent
- inspect a table schema before querying
- sum and average orders grouped by customer
- copy a table before a migration
Example prompts for the agent
- Show me the schema of the
userstable - Find active users with
age >= 20, order bycreated_at, show the first 10 - Count the records in
orderswith statuspaid
