CV Forge — Claude Code MCP server: CVs built for a job ad
An MCP server that reads a job posting and produces a matching CV, cover letter and application email. PDF is the default output.
claude mcp add cv-forge -- npx -y cv-forgeWhat CV Forge does
CV Forge runs as a stdio MCP server and hands the agent tools for one job application. parse_job_requirements pulls skills, requirements, an email address and the hiring manager's name out of the posting. generate_cv_data builds the tailored CV text from your profile. generate_cv writes the file as PDF, HTML or Markdown, PDF unless you say otherwise.
Your profile goes in as a structured object: personal details, summary, experience with achievements, education, skills, projects. Because the shape is fixed, keep the profile in a file once and reuse it instead of retyping it for the agent at every attempt.
Install with npm install -g cv-forge, then register the server in your client's config. In Claude Desktop that's claude_desktop_config.json with cv-forge as the command. Environment variables such as DEFAULT_OUTPUT_PATH and PDF_BASE_FONT_SIZE control the output folder and typography. Skip DEFAULT_OUTPUT_PATH and every call has to pass a directory itself.
What it helps with
- pull requirements and key skills out of a job description
- tailor a CV to one vacancy from an existing profile
- draft a cover letter for that application
- write an application email using the address found in the posting
- export the CV as a PDF with custom margins
Example prompts for the agent
- Parse this job posting and pull out the requirements, skills and email address
- Generate a CV for this job from my profile and save it as PDF in
D:/CV - Build the full package for this posting: CV, cover letter and application email

Questions about CV Forge
How do I install CV Forge in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add cv-forge -- npx -y cv-forge.
What does CV Forge do?
It reads a job description, adapts your CV profile to that posting and saves the result, PDF by default. It also picks up the contact email and hiring manager name from the ad.
What do I need before using it?
A user profile matching the structure generate_cv_data expects: personal info, experience, education, skills and projects. Without it there is no CV to tailor.
