CompanyData — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Queries corporate registries across 200+ countries to find and enrich business records. Useful when verifying firms or pulling registration filings directly in AI agents.
claude mcp add mcp -e COMPANYDATA_API_KEY=<COMPANYDATA_API_KEY> -- npx -y @companydata/mcp-serverWhat CompanyData does
The server adds three tools to your client using the CompanyData HTTP API. The company_search handler locates businesses by name, company_enrich pulls detailed records via an ID, and field_lookup checks city names.
You can link to the remote endpoint at https://companydata.com/mcp/ over HTTP or run the package locally with npx -y @companydata/mcp-server. Local execution requires Node.js 18+.
Calls will fail without COMPANYDATA_API_KEY. You pass this key to authorize against the registry backend. If needed, point to an alternate origin with COMPANYDATA_API_BASE_URL.
What it helps with
- search global business registries by company name
- fetch verified corporate details by registry ID
- suggest matching city names for location filters
Example prompts for the agent
- Search for registered businesses named BoldData using
company_search - Retrieve enriched filings for company ID 12345 via
company_enrich - Look up city name suggestions for amst using
field_lookup
