Clairvoyance — Claude Code MCP server: design and setup
This MCP server gives coding agents software-design checks for modules, abstractions, errors, and naming. It connects over HTTP without sign-in.
claude mcp add --transport http mcp https://clairvoyance.fyi/mcpWhat Clairvoyance does
Clairvoyance supplies skills that make an agent inspect design choices during implementation and review. They cover module depth, boundary decisions, information hiding, caller burden, abstraction quality, error handling, naming, and documentation. A separate skill compares design alternatives before one is chosen, while another scans for design smells.
The server is read-only and uses Streamable HTTP. Each request contains only the selected skill name, so project code, file paths, and prompts stay out of the request. MCP clients that support prompts can expose the skills as slash commands, including /clairvoyance:red-flags, /clairvoyance:deep-modules, and /clairvoyance:design-it-twice. Claude Code connects through https://clairvoyance.fyi/mcp.
What it helps with
- inspect whether module interfaces hide complexity
- spot pass-through methods and weak boundaries
- compare design alternatives before implementation
- reduce error-handling work pushed onto callers
- check naming and cross-module documentation
Example prompts for the agent
- Run
/clairvoyance:red-flagsand scan this change for design smells. - Use
/clairvoyance:deep-modulesto inspect the depth of these module interfaces. - Call
/clairvoyance:design-it-twiceand compare two designs before I implement one.

Questions about Clairvoyance
How do I install Clairvoyance in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add --transport http clairvoyance https://clairvoyance.fyi/mcp. The MCP server will then be available in Claude Code.
What does Clairvoyance do?
It adds software-design skills for reviewing modules, abstractions, boundaries, errors, names, and documentation. The skills can also be called directly with namespaced slash commands.
Does Clairvoyance receive project source code?
No. A request sends only the skill name, not source code, file paths, or prompts. The server is read-only.
