SheetsData — Claude Code MCP server: component datasheets for your agent
A hosted MCP server that hands your coding agent manufacturer datasheets: find a part, read its pinout, and test your operating conditions against the published ratings.
claude mcp add --transport http sheetsdata-mcp https://mcp.sheetsdata.com/mcpWhat SheetsData does
The server runs at https://mcp.sheetsdata.com/mcp over Streamable HTTP. Your agent queries JLCPCB, Mouser and DigiKey at once, merges hits by manufacturer part number, and returns stock, price and whether the datasheet has been ingested. Then it pulls any section of that datasheet as text and tables — summary, pinout, electrical specs, absolute maximum ratings, package. No PDF ever reaches the model, and you do not have to hunt one down.
Not every tool is free. search_parts and find_parts cost nothing, read_datasheet runs 10¢, check_design_fit 12¢, check_bom 3¢, and a call that errors is not billed. An account is required: sign in with OAuth in the browser, or pass SHEETSDATA_API_KEY as a bearer token. The repo ships install configs per client plus @sheetsdata/mcp, a stdio proxy for tools that only launch local servers.
Feed it part numbers (TPS54302, STM32F446RCT6) or LCSC codes (C2837938). Values such as 100nF and designators such as R1 get rejected — that is the usual first stumble. A datasheet nobody has requested yet is ingested on demand; after that everyone reads the cached copy. When check_design_fit cannot match a condition to a limit, it marks the field unmatched and holds the verdict at WARNING, so a clean PASS means every condition was actually tested.
What it helps with
- confirm a regulator survives your input voltage and load current
- pull a pinout without opening the PDF
- swap in a substitute part by footprint, specs and availability
- catch end-of-life lines and stock shortfalls in a BOM
- stack 2–5 candidate parts against each other
Example prompts for the agent
- Find buck converters that take at least 24 V in and deliver 2 A or more
- Read the pinout of
TPS54302and list the pins in order - Check
TPS54302against 24 V input and 2.5 A output

Questions about SheetsData
How do I install SheetsData in Claude Code?
Point Claude at the hosted endpoint: claude mcp add --transport http sheetsdata https://mcp.sheetsdata.com/mcp. Clients limited to local servers can go through the proxy with a key instead: claude mcp add --env SHEETSDATA_API_KEY=<SHEETSDATA_API_KEY> --transport stdio sheetsdata -- npx -y @sheetsdata/mcp.
What does SheetsData do?
It gives the agent datasheet access: searching parts, reading sections of the manufacturer PDF, comparing candidates, auditing a BOM, and matching your operating conditions to the limits in the datasheet.
Do I need a paid account?
Sign-in is required either way. Part search and extraction-status checks are free; the heavier tools charge a fixed amount per call, and failed calls are not charged.
