chestnyznak-mcp — Claude Code MCP server: setup and features
Inspects Chestny ZNAK product identification codes and queries True API directly inside your AI workflow. Basic verification runs without registration or tokens.
claude mcp add chestnyznak-mcp -e API_KEY=<API_KEY> -- npx -y @theyahia/chestnyznak-mcpWhat chestnyznak-mcp does
The server introduces five tools designed for Russia's digital track-and-trace registry. Three functions run publicly without credentials: single-item verification for DataMatrix, QR, or EAN-13, detailed ownership lookups, and batch validation for up to 50 items. These operations rely on the mobile client endpoint.
Querying GTIN records or CIS status calls True API directly and mandates a valid CHESTNYZNAK_TOKEN. The server lacks built-in GOST signature generation: UKEP digital signing must happen externally beforehand, and issued bearer tokens expire in roughly 10 hours.
Public endpoint requests frequently time out when sent from non-Russian IP addresses. Beside default stdio operation, the package runs as a local HTTP service via --http, though exposing /mcp leaves the endpoint without native authentication.
What it helps with
- verify legitimacy and lifecycle status of DataMatrix markings
- look up product category, manufacturer, and current owner by code
- run batch validation on up to 50 product identifiers at once
- retrieve product catalog records by GTIN via True API
Example prompts for the agent
- Check the status of marking code 0104600702028445
- Retrieve manufacturer and ownership info for code 010460070202844521
- Verify this batch of codes: 0104600702028445, 0104600702028446

Questions about chestnyznak-mcp
How do I install chestnyznak-mcp in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add chestnyznak-mcp -e API_KEY=<API_KEY> -- npx -y @theyahia/chestnyznak-mcp in your command line.
Do I need an account or key to check item codes?
Public verification, manufacturer queries, and batches under 50 codes require no credentials. The CHESTNYZNAK_TOKEN variable is only required when calling True API routines.
Can I search for items using brand names or titles?
Text search relies on the separate National Catalog API and is unsupported here. The search_products tool strictly processes numeric GTIN identifiers.
