bussin-mcp — Claude Code MCP server: features and setup
Inspect Azure Service Bus queues, search message contents, and replay dead-lettered messages through an MCP client. Write operations require explicit flags.
claude mcp add bussin-mcp -e YOUR_API_KEY=<YOUR_API_KEY> -- npx -y bussin-mcpWhat bussin-mcp does
bussin-mcp connects an AI client to Azure Service Bus. It can list namespaces, queues, topics, and subscriptions, inspect messages without taking a lock, and search by body text, message ID, or subject. The default tool set is read-only.
Sending or replaying messages requires --allow-send; deleting messages and purging an entity require --allow-destructive. Scans and purges are bounded by --search-timeout-ms, and each message body is cut off at 4000 characters. For Entra ID, the server uses DefaultAzureCredential. Resource listing needs the Reader role, while message inspection needs Azure Service Bus Data Receiver. The built-in simulator runs with --demo, without an Azure account.
Add the server to Claude Code with claude mcp add. The supplied install command sets YOUR_API_KEY, while the server documentation describes Azure authentication through Entra ID or a SAS connection string. Check which credential setup applies before connecting.
What it helps with
- inspect dead-letter counts across queues
- search messages by body text, ID, or subject
- read messages without locking or consuming them
- replay selected dead-letter messages to their source queue
- purge a queue after enabling destructive access
Example prompts for the agent
- Show me which Azure Service Bus queues have dead-letter messages.
- Search the subscription for messages whose body mentions
timeout. - Replay the selected dead-letter messages to their source queue.
