BPMN Kit — Claude Code MCP server: Camunda 8 diagrams from chat
Lets an agent build and check Camunda 8 process diagrams, forms and DMN decisions, then push them to a cluster. Useful when nobody wants to drag boxes by hand.
claude mcp add --env ZEEBE_ADDRESS=<ZEEBE_ADDRESS> --env ZEEBE_CLIENT_ID=<ZEEBE_CLIENT_ID> --env ZEEBE_CLIENT_SECRET=<ZEEBE_CLIENT_SECRET> --transport stdio cli -- npx -y @bpmnkit/cliWhat BPMN Kit does
The server exposes BPMN Kit tooling to your agent. It writes and validates .bpmn, .form and .dmn files, runs them through a simulator, and ships them to a Camunda 8 cluster. Everything goes through npx -y @bpmnkit/cli, so there is no separate install step beyond registering the server.
Behind it sits the casen command-line tool: profiles, deployment, incident and job listings, connector templates generated from OpenAPI specs. The agent just calls the operation it needs.
Talking to a real cluster takes ZEEBE_ADDRESS, ZEEBE_CLIENT_ID and ZEEBE_CLIENT_SECRET. Register the server without them and it works on local files only — no deployment, so do not expect one.
What it helps with
- turn a written description into a BPMN process diagram
- validate forms and DMN decisions before shipping
- run a process scenario in the simulator with no cluster
- push prepared files to Camunda 8 in one call
- generate connector templates from an OpenAPI spec
Example prompts for the agent
- Build an order process with a payment check and save it as
order-process.bpmn - Validate the forms in this folder and list the errors
- Deploy
order-process.bpmnto the active profile

Questions about BPMN Kit
How do I install BPMN Kit in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add bpmnkit -e ZEEBE_CLIENT_SECRET=<ZEEBE_CLIENT_SECRET> -- npx -y @bpmnkit/cli. To pass all credentials at once, use `claude mcp add --env ZEEBE_ADDRESS=<ZEEBE_ADDRESS> --env ZEEBE_CLIENT_ID=<ZEEBE_CLIENT_ID> --env ZEEBE_CLIENT_SECRET=<ZEEBE_CLIENT_SECRET> --transport stdio cli -- npx -y @bpmnkit/cli`.
What does BPMN Kit do?
It hands the agent Camunda 8 operations: authoring and validating BPMN, forms and DMN, simulation, cluster deployment, plus incident and job views.
Which credentials does a Camunda 8 cluster need?
ZEEBE_ADDRESS together with ZEEBE_CLIENT_ID and ZEEBE_CLIENT_SECRET. All three are passed as environment variables when the server is registered.
