mcp-server · aibtcdev — Claude Code MCP server: a wallet for your agent
A stdio MCP server that hands the agent its own Bitcoin and Stacks wallet, so it can move funds and use DeFi tools. Useful once your agent has to sign real transactions.
claude mcp add mcp-server -- npx -y @aibtc/mcp-serverWhat mcp-server does
On install the server creates a wallet and prints the Stacks and Bitcoin addresses, a password and a 24-word mnemonic. You see them once. The seed lives only as an encrypted blob (AES-256-GCM) under ~/.aibtc/; the password is stored nowhere and the agent asks for it each time it unlocks. Wallet creation happens only in an interactive terminal, so piping the installer or running it in CI skips that step — add --no-wallet to skip it on purpose and set the wallet up from the agent instead.
Coverage runs from Bitcoin L1 through mempool.space (balances, sends, UTXOs) to SIP-010 tokens, SIP-009 NFTs, .btc domains, ALEX swaps, Zest lending, STX stacking and x402 payments for paid APIs. The toolset is split into groups, and the installer sets AIBTC_TOOLS=core — a 24-tool slice, because every tool definition eats model context. Other groups go into the server's env by hand.
Installers for Cursor, Windsurf, Gemini CLI, Codex and VS Code merge into the config you already have. A built-in bridge drives the tools through OpenRouter, and the spend caps, --read-only mode and allowlist are enforced when a tool actually runs, not just when it is listed. This server moves real money, so try --testnet first.
What it helps with
- give an agent its own wallet for on-chain actions
- look up a BTC balance through mempool.space
- swap tokens on ALEX from inside the chat
- call a paid API and settle it over x402
- stake STX and collect sBTC rewards
Example prompts for the agent
- Unlock the wallet and show my BTC and STX balances
- Send 0.001 BTC to the address in my notes
- List x402 endpoints and pay for the cheapest one

Questions about mcp-server
How do I install mcp-server in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add aibtcdev-mcp-server -- npx -y @aibtc/mcp-server, then restart the terminal. This registration does not create a wallet; you can set one up or import one later from the agent.
What does mcp-server do?
It gives the agent a wallet plus tools for Bitcoin L1 and Stacks L2: transfers, tokens, NFTs, DeFi, stacking, .btc domains and x402 payments.
What do I need before it works?
Node.js with npx, and an interactive terminal if you want the wallet created during setup. Neither the password nor the mnemonic is recoverable later, so note both down when they appear.
