artifact-site — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Publishes agent-generated HTML pages, reports, and static builds to your server or the cloud. It adds versioned links, full-text search, and access controls.
claude mcp add --transport http artifact-site https://artifact-site.app.lexmount.com/mcpWhat artifact-site does
This server gives coding agents a dedicated workspace to store outputs instead of leaving them buried across chat sessions or local folders. Agents push finished files directly through the MCP interface or the @artifact-site/cli utility. The platform accepts static HTML pages, compiled dist/ folders, ZIP archives, PDF documents, and Office files like DOCX or PPTX.
The server hosts finished assets only. It does not run application backends or handle build steps, so projects must be compiled beforehand. Rendered web pages live in a sandboxed frame with no access to user session data. If a page connects to external APIs, you must configure an origin allowlist. Viewing Office files online requires a running Gotenberg instance, and scanned documents lack automatic OCR.
You can host the platform yourself using Docker 24+ and the Compose plugin 2.24+ via make build up, or rely on the hosted cloud instance. The system logs version history with rollback capabilities, and controls file access through passwords or enterprise OIDC providers.
What it helps with
- publish static dist/ builds and ZIP archives with shareable links
- organize agent-generated HTML pages and PDF reports in a unified workspace
- preserve revision history and roll back changes to published documents
- search across uploaded team documentation and reports
Example prompts for the agent
- Publish the generated dist folder to artifact-site and give me the link.
- Find the latest sales report on artifact-site and update its text content.
- Upload summary.pdf and set up password-protected access for the team.
