arr-mcp — Claude Code MCP server: features and setup
Connects *arr services, Jellyfin, Plex, Seerr and download clients through MCP. Trace where a media request stalled before it reached Jellyfin.
Open on GitHubWhat arr-mcp does
arr-mcp brings media services together through 39 tools. Its diagnose tool follows a request from its origin to Jellyfin and identifies the stage where progress stopped. The server also checks Profilarr quality profiles and describes settings that need adjustment.
Add services in the configuration page with their URL and API key. Plex uses X-Plex-Token; Transmission and qBittorrent require a username and password. Write operations are disabled until enabled per service, preview the proposed change and wait for confirmation. Set the account credentials before exposing the port: the first visitor to the setup page claims the instance, which holds service API keys.
For Docker, the repository includes docker-compose.example.yml. Once the server is running, point the MCP client at http://<host>:6060/mcp and create a token in the configuration page. The token appears once, so copy it into the client immediately. Short-lived OAuth 2.1 tokens are also accepted when an identity provider is already in use.
What it helps with
- trace why a requested film never appeared in Jellyfin
- check the request path across Seerr, Radarr and Jellyfin
- find a quality-profile setting Profilarr cannot satisfy
- preview the changes a write operation would make
Example prompts for the agent
- Find where the request for this film stopped before it reached Jellyfin.
- Trace the request for “Blade” and report the first blocked stage.
- Check this Profilarr quality profile and suggest the setting to change.
