appsignal — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Connects Claude Code to AppSignal so an agent can inspect incidents, search logs, and retrieve records for a chosen time range.
claude mcp add --env APPSIGNAL_API_KEY=<APPSIGNAL_API_KEY> --env APPSIGNAL_APP_ID=<APPSIGNAL_APP_ID> --transport stdio appsignal -- npx -y appsignal-mcp-serverWhat appsignal does
This MCP server connects Claude Code with the AppSignal REST API. The available tools list applications, select an application ID, inspect exception, log, and anomaly incidents, and search application logs with query parameters. Incident lists can be filtered by OPEN, CLOSED, or WIP; an unfiltered list uses OPEN.
The server runs through npx and requires APPSIGNAL_API_KEY. You can also set APPSIGNAL_APP_ID to select an application in advance. Node.js v24.2.0 is required. Without an AppSignal API key, the server cannot connect.
What it helps with
- search application logs with filters
- inspect an exception or anomaly incident
- list incidents that are still open
- connect an incident to related log entries
- select an AppSignal application for analysis
Example prompts for the agent
- Show the open AppSignal incidents and group them by type.
- Select the AppSignal application, then search its logs for errors in the requested time range.
- Inspect this exception incident and look for related entries in the application logs.
