Agent Abilities for MCP — Claude Code MCP server: how to install
Links AI assistants to WordPress over MCP using scoped user roles and an on-site audit log.
Open on GitHubWhat Agent Abilities for MCP does
This plugin exposes WordPress as an HTTP MCP endpoint with 179 tools based on the WordPress 6.9 Abilities API. The connected model works strictly within an assigned user role, such as Editor or Contributor. Admin keys are never used. By default, every tool remains disabled.
Safety mechanisms include a read-only switch and an enforced draft mode for manual verification on the Dashboard. The server logs every call straight into your database. Denied requests are logged too. Raw text prompts are never stored.
The plugin requires WordPress 6.9 or newer alongside PHP 7.4. If your server strips the Authorization header, the connection will drop. You can identify this issue using the built-in Connection Doctor tool.
What it helps with
- Edit and draft WordPress posts directly through an AI assistant
- Restrict model capabilities using existing WordPress user roles
- Route AI-written articles into drafts for manual approval
- Track every tool call in a self-hosted database audit log
Example prompts for the agent
- Search for published articles in the updates category and fix typos in the body
- Draft a new post about recent maintenance and keep it in pending review
- Review recent tool actions recorded in the local audit log
