What 1inch MCP does

The server runs remotely at https://api.1inch.com/mcp/protocol. No local binary is needed. The toolset exposes trading routes, limit orders, gas prices, spot rates, and Aqua analytics directly to your coding assistant. It also fetches code samples and searches technical guides.

Authentication splits the toolset into two tiers. Public functions like searching documentation or pulling SDK examples work without credentials. Without an API key from the 1inch Business Portal or an OAuth login, requests to submit swaps, place orders, or fetch wallet balances fail.

You can also load domain skills from 1inch/1inch-ai. They instruct the model on specific endpoint paths while keeping token overhead low.

What it helps with

  • quote and execute on-chain token swaps
  • place limit orders through the orderbook tool
  • check current gas prices and token spot rates
  • inspect wallet balances and token holdings

Example prompts for the agent

  • Look up current gas prices across networks using 1inch MCP.
  • Search 1inch documentation for a cross-chain swap integration example.
  • Check token balances and NFT assets for a target wallet address.
