Macau Legend expects 90% narrower 1H26 loss as impairment drops out

Former Macau satellite casino operator Macau Legend expects a loss of HK$136.8 million ($17.5 million) for the six months ended 30 June. A year earlier the company posted a loss of HK$1.42 billion ($182.2 million) for the same period.

The group told the Hong Kong Stock Exchange the narrowing reflects the absence of impairment charges on non-financial assets. In the first half of 2025 Macau Legend recognised HK$1.27 billion in impairment losses following the planned termination of its satellite casino agreement with SJM Resorts. Without that one-time write-down, the prior-year loss would have been HK$148.6 million ($19.0 million). Operating losses declined modestly, from HK$148.6 million to HK$136.8 million, or 8 per cent.

The reporting period marked Macau Legend's first half without gaming operations. Legend Palace casino at Macau Fisherman's Wharf closed on 12 November 2025, ahead of the official end of the satellite casino model in Macau. The company has shifted focus to non-gaming: hotels, conferences and exhibitions, food and beverage, and property leasing.

Full interim results are due by the end of August.
