ga4-monitor — Claude Code skill: weekly GA4 health check
Runs a weekly pass over your analytics: sessions, conversions, revenue and channels against last week. Flags a key event that quietly stopped firing.
npx skills add cognyai/claude-code-marketing-skills --skill ga4-monitor -a claude-codeWhat ga4-monitor does
The skill keeps one recurring routine. It reads the previous snapshot from insights/ga4/monitor/latest, pulls a realtime report, then compares the last 7 full days with the 7 before them. You get sessions, users, new users, engagement rate, average session duration, conversions for key events, revenue and channel mix — each number with its week-over-week delta. Today's partial day stays out of both windows, so the comparison holds up.
GA4 is the default, but the compatibility table also covers Plausible, Fathom Analytics, Simple Analytics and Adobe Analytics, each with its own calls. Connect Shopify or WooCommerce plus PostHog or Mixpanel and the skill cross-checks a conversion drop against orders and sign-ups, which tells you whether sales really fell or a tag broke. Several providers connected at once are shown side by side, never added together.
You need a Cogny Agent subscription and the Cogny MCP server in the project's .mcp.json; without it the skill prints setup instructions and stops. health_status can miss a revoked token, so the skill makes one cheap read per provider and marks a 401 or scope error as a reconnect right away. Schedule it with /loop or /schedule; for a one-off deep review there is /ga4-audit.
What it helps with
- catch a key event that stopped firing after a tag change
- compare sessions and conversions against the previous 7 full days
- break traffic down by channel and see where new users came from
- check a conversion drop against Shopify or WooCommerce orders
- spot a revoked integration token before the report comes back empty
Example prompts for the agent
- Run the weekly GA4 check and show the deltas against last week
- Check whether tracking broke: compare realtime with the 7-day report
- Build the channel and conversion report and save the snapshot to

Questions about ga4-monitor
How do I install ga4-monitor in Claude Code?
Run npx skills add cognyai/claude-code-marketing-skills --skill ga4-monitor -a claude-code. The skill file lands at ~/.claude/skills/ga4-monitor/SKILL.md.
What does ga4-monitor do?
It checks a GA4 property every week: sessions, users, key-event conversions, revenue and channel mix. Every metric comes with its change from the prior week, and a tracking break gets flagged.
What does the skill need to run?
A Cogny Agent subscription and the Cogny MCP server in the project's .mcp.json, pointed at https://app.cogny.com/mcp. With no web-analytics provider connected, the skill stops and asks you to connect GA4, Plausible, Fathom, Simple Analytics or Adobe.
