fedora-linux-triage — GitHub Copilot skill: install and use
This skill troubleshoots Fedora with dnf, systemd, and SELinux-aware checks. Use it when an agent needs a clear diagnostic sequence and ready-to-run commands.
npx skills add github/awesome-copilot --skill fedora-linux-triageWhat fedora-linux-triage does
fedora-linux-triage guides Fedora troubleshooting from the release and environment assumptions through diagnosis and remediation. It uses systemctl, journalctl, and dnf in the triage plan, then organizes the response into a summary, numbered steps, remediation commands, validation, and rollback or cleanup.
The skill provides copy-paste-ready commands and follows major changes with verification commands. It brings in SELinux and firewalld when they affect the issue. The input can include a problem summary, with the Fedora release and constraints added when relevant.
Install it when GitHub Copilot needs to investigate Fedora system issues in a defined sequence. It is a poor fit for projects where the problem is unrelated to Fedora administration.
What it helps with
- trace a failed service with
systemctlandjournalctl - investigate package problems through
dnf - check SELinux as a possible cause
- account for
firewalldduring network diagnosis - prepare rollback and cleanup commands
Example prompts for the agent
- Troubleshoot this Fedora issue: the service no longer starts after a configuration change.
- Use `systemctl`, `journalctl`, and `dnf` to find what is blocking this package.
- Create a Fedora triage plan that considers SELinux and includes validation after the fix.
