What google-calendar does

This skill equips an agent with tools to interact with Google Calendar and Tasks APIs via bundled Python utilities. The assistant can search existing events, inspect free/busy windows, edit schedule entries, and track reminders across different tasklists.

Execution relies on the CLI script gcal. Timed items require RFC3339 timestamps, whereas full-day items use YYYY-MM-DD dates. Advanced operations like setting up attendee lists or custom conference configurations pass raw JSON via --body or --body-file. Switching accounts is handled by pointing --token or GCAL_TOKEN_PATH to separate files.

Setup requires a Desktop app OAuth credential file saved to ~/.config/google-calendar/credentials.json. Without a configured Python virtual environment and an initial run of gcal-auth, the agent cannot issue API requests.

What it helps with

  • inspect attendee availability using free/busy lookups
  • book a timed event directly on the primary calendar
  • add a new task with a due date to Google Tasks
  • delete or rename an existing calendar entry by its ID

Example prompts for the agent

  • Show all meetings on my primary calendar for today
  • Schedule a 30-minute sync titled "Design Review" tomorrow at 2 PM
  • Create a task named "Submit invoice" due by end of day in Google Tasks
