What perplexity-search does

The skill wraps the Perplexity API in a single Python script, scripts/perplexity_api.py. Four modes sit inside: ask answers general questions on sonar-pro, research produces longer reports on sonar-deep-research, reason handles analysis on sonar-reasoning-pro, and search returns web results. The agent picks a mode from how you phrase the request.

search takes --max-results (1 to 20, default 10), --max-tokens-per-page (256 to 2048, default 1024) and --country with an ISO code. On research and reason you can pass --strip-thinking to drop thinking... tags and save context.

Set PERPLEXITY_API_KEY before the first call. Nothing runs without it, so check that first. Timeouts are raised through PERPLEXITY_TIMEOUT_MS (default 300000), and behind a proxy you set PERPLEXITY_PROXY or HTTPS_PROXY.
