What discord-bot-architect does

The skill covers two foundations: Discord.js v14 for JavaScript and Pycord for Python. You get templates for the entry point, loading commands and events from folders, and registering slash commands with SlashCommandBuilder or bot.slash_command. Your agent stops inventing project structure from scratch.

A separate section handles interactive pieces: buttons, select menus, modals, and collecting responses with a timeout. Operations get attention too — gateway intents, rate limiting, sharding. The advice on intents is blunt: MessageContent and members are marked privileged, so enable them only when you actually need them.

One detail trips people up: command sync. In the Pycord sample the bot.sync_commands() call sits commented out with a warning to be careful. Run sync on every startup and guild commands lag behind, which is how you end up with duplicates. The bot token comes from DISCORD_TOKEN via dotenv, so set that environment variable before you start.

What it helps with

  • scaffold a Discord.js v14 bot with commands loaded from a folder
  • build a Pycord bot and move commands into cogs
  • add a slash command with options and an embed reply
  • create a menu with buttons and a role select list
  • sort out privileged intents and sharding

Example prompts for the agent

  • scaffold a Discord bot with Discord.js v14 and a ping slash command
  • port this bot to Pycord and split the commands into cogs
  • add confirm and cancel buttons to the menu command
