obsidian-clipper-template-creator — Claude Code skill: Obsidian Web
A skill that builds JSON templates for Obsidian Web Clipper: it reads a page, picks the right variables and hands you a file to import.
npx claude-code-templates@latest --skill productivity/obsidian-clipper-template-creatorWhat obsidian-clipper-template-creator does
The skill walks through template creation step by step. First it asks what you are clipping: a specific site, a content type like recipes, or general pages. Then it checks Templates/Bases/*.base — if you already have a Base schema, the template properties follow it.
Next you supply a sample URL. The agent pulls the page with WebFetch and inspects the HTML: Schema.org JSON, meta tags, CSS selectors. From that it drafts a JSON object matching the schema, and the chosen variables (Preset, Schema, Selector) get checked against what the page actually contains. Output always comes as a JSON code block you copy and import into the clipper.
Without a sample URL there is nothing to validate variables against, so expect to provide one. Reference files ship with the skill: references/variables.md, references/filters.md, references/json-schema.md, references/bases-workflow.md, references/analysis-workflow.md, plus examples under assets/.
What it helps with
- build a clipping template for one specific site
- pull CSS selectors out of a page's HTML
- match template properties to an existing Base schema
- confirm variables exist on a live page
- get importable JSON for Obsidian Web Clipper
Example prompts for the agent
- make a clipper template for YouTube videos
- create a recipe template, the schema is in Templates/Bases/Recipes.base
- here is the article URL, build the template and verify the variables
