c-notion — Claude Code skill: run Notion from the CLI
A skill that hands your agent a set of notion-cli commands for Notion pages, databases and blocks. Useful when edits should happen without opening the browser.
npx skills add daxaur/openpaw --skill c-notion -a claude-codeWhat c-notion does
The skill documents the notion-cli command set and tells the agent which calls to make. Pages get listed, searched by title or content, read, created with a title and parent, renamed, deleted, or appended to.
Databases are covered too: listing, querying entries with a filter such as Status=Done, sorting, adding a row through --props "Name=Task,Status=In Progress", updating properties, reading the schema. Blocks follow the same pattern — list what sits on a page, append a paragraph or a todo, delete one by id.
You need a Notion integration token that can reach the pages in question. The skill expects it from notion-cli auth or the NOTION_TOKEN environment variable; without it the calls fail. Page and database ids live in the Notion URL after the workspace slug, so you copy them by hand.
What it helps with
- search for a page before creating a duplicate
- create a page under a specific parent
- pull only the database rows marked Done
- add a task row with Name and Status properties
- append a paragraph or todo to an existing page
Example prompts for the agent
- Search Notion for onboarding pages and show me their ids
- Add a row to the tasks database with Name=Review and Status=In Progress
- List the blocks on page
<page-id>and append a summary paragraph

--- name: c-notion description: Manage Notion pages and databases from the CLI using notion-cli. Create, read, search, and update pages. Query databases, add entries, and manage blocks and properties. tags: [notion, pages, databases, notion-cli, productivity] --- This skill manages Notion workspaces using the `notion-cli` tool. ## Pages ```bash notion-cli page list # List recent pages notion-cli page search "query" # Search pages by title/content notion-cli page get <page-id> # Get page content notion-cli page create --title "Title" --parent <page-id> notion-cli page create --title "Title" --content "Body text" notion-cli page update <page-id> --title "New Title" notion-cli page delete <page-id> notion-cli page append <page-id> "Additional content" ``` ## Databases ```bash notion-cli db list # List all databases notion-cli db query <db-id> # Query all entries notion-cli db query <db-id> --filter "Status=Done" notion-cli db query <db-id> --sort "Created" --desc notion-cli db add <db-id> --props "Name=Task,Status=In Progress" notion-cli db update <page-id> --props "Status=Done" notion-cli db get <db-id> # Get database schema ``` ## Blocks ```bash notion-cli block list <page-id> # List blocks in a page notion-cli block append <page-id> --type "paragraph" --text "Hello" notion-cli block append <page-id> --type "todo" --text "Task item" notion-cli block delete <block-id> ``` ## Usage Guidelines - Use `notion-cli page search` to find pages before creating duplicates. - Page and database IDs can be found in the Notion URL after the workspace slug. - The `--props` flag uses `Key=Value` pairs separated by commas. - Notion API token must be configured: `notion-cli auth` or via `NOTION_TOKEN` env var. ## Notes - Requires a Notion integration token with appropriate permissions. - If `notion-cli` is missing, suggest installing the OpenPaw c-notion skill.
