c-slack — Claude Code skill: post to Slack from your agent
Lets the agent talk to Slack through the CLI: channel and DM messages, file uploads, thread replies.
npx skills add daxaur/openpaw --skill c-slack -a claude-codeWhat c-slack does
This skill hands the agent the slack command. It posts text to a channel with #channel-name or to a person with @username, attaches files, and drops a reply into a thread when you pass --thread-ts. Slack markdown works too, so bold and italic arrive intact.
The skill lists the calls worth knowing: slack chat send, slack files upload, slack channels list. It tells the agent to confirm the recipient first, and to push follow-ups into a thread instead of flooding the channel.
Nothing runs without an installed, authenticated slack CLI, and the bot token has to carry chat:write and files:write. Rate limits are real, so a tight loop of sends will hit them.
What it helps with
- post a build report to a team channel
- share a PDF or screenshot in Slack
- reply inside an existing thread
- DM a teammate
- list the channels a bot can see
Example prompts for the agent
- Send a message to
#generalthat the build passed - Upload
report.pdfto#devwith the title “Weekly Report” - Reply in thread

--- name: c-slack description: Send messages and upload files to Slack channels using the `slack` CLI. Supports direct messages, channel posts, file uploads, and thread replies. tags: [slack, messaging, communication, files] --- ## What This Skill Does Enables Claude to send messages and share files to Slack channels and users via the `slack` CLI tool. ## Available CLI Tool: `slack` ### Common Commands ```bash # Send a message to a channel slack chat send --channel "#general" --text "Hello team" # Send a direct message to a user slack chat send --channel "@username" --text "Hey!" # Upload a file to a channel slack files upload --channel "#general" --file ./report.pdf --title "Weekly Report" # Post with markdown formatting slack chat send --channel "#dev" --text "*Bold* and _italic_ text" # Reply in a thread (requires thread timestamp) slack chat send --channel "#general" --thread-ts "1234567890.123456" --text "Reply here" # List channels slack channels list ``` ## Usage Guidelines - Always confirm the target channel or user before sending - Use `#channel-name` syntax for channels and `@username` for DMs - File uploads support PDF, images, text, and most common formats - Keep messages concise; use threads for follow-ups ## Notes - Requires `slack` CLI to be installed and authenticated (`slack auth`) - Bot token must have `chat:write` and `files:write` scopes - Rate limits apply — avoid bulk sending in tight loops
