What c-files does

c-files is a written guide the agent follows when it touches cloud storage. It lists the rclone calls you need: showing configured remotes, copying files in either direction, syncing, moving, comparing two locations and reading storage usage. Two extras are covered as well — the interactive browser rclone ncdu and mounting a remote as a local folder with rclone mount remote:path /mnt/cloud --daemon.

Remotes get added through rclone config. The list covers Google Drive, S3, Dropbox, OneDrive, Backblaze B2, Azure Blob, SFTP, FTP and WebDAV, plus more than 70 providers in total. rclone itself is not bundled here, so install it separately before the skill can do anything.

The risky part is rclone sync. It removes extra files at the destination, and the skill's guidelines say to confirm such operations and preview them with --dry-run first. Not sure what will happen? Use rclone copy instead, it leaves the destination alone. When you only want to know whether two sides match, rclone check compares them without moving anything.

What it helps with

  • push a build folder to S3 or Google Drive
  • back up a directory to cloud storage
  • compare local and remote files without transferring
  • mount a remote as a local folder
  • check how much space a remote is using

Example prompts for the agent

  • Copy the dist folder to the remote backup:site
  • Run rclone check on local/path and remote:path
  • Show me the storage usage for remote:

Questions about c-files

How do I install c-files in Claude Code?

Run npx skills add daxaur/openpaw --skill c-files -a claude-code. The skill lands at ~/.claude/skills/c-files/SKILL.md.

What does c-files do?

It gives the agent rclone commands for copying, syncing, moving and verifying files on cloud remotes, and for mounting a remote as a local folder.

Why is rclone sync risky here?

rclone sync deletes extra files at the destination. The skill tells the agent to confirm those operations and preview them with --dry-run, and to fall back to rclone copy when in doubt.

# Cloud Files (rclone)

```bash
# List configured remotes
rclone listremotes
# List files in a remote
rclone ls remote:path
rclone lsd remote:path    # directories only
# Copy files to/from cloud
rclone copy local/path remote:path
rclone copy remote:path local/path
# Sync (make remote match local — deletes extra files on remote)
rclone sync local/path remote:path
# Move files
rclone move local/path remote:path
# Interactive file explorer
rclone ncdu remote:path
# Mount cloud storage as local folder
rclone mount remote:path /mnt/cloud --daemon
# Check for differences
rclone check local/path remote:path
# Show storage usage
rclone about remote:
```

## Setup

Run `rclone config` to add remotes. Supports:
- Google Drive, S3, Dropbox, OneDrive, Backblaze B2
- Azure Blob, SFTP, FTP, WebDAV
- 70+ providers total

## Guidelines

- `rclone sync` deletes files on destination — use `rclone copy` if unsure
- Always confirm before sync operations that delete remote files
- Use `--dry-run` flag to preview what would change
- Use `rclone check` to verify files match without transferring
